The aim of the programme KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA fellowship 2009 KVPY 2010 is to
identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research. Selection is open to Indian nationals studying in India.
The applicant is required to submit a report of a project chosen and executed by her/him exclusively
for this application. This report has to be supervised by a teacher/professional in the relevant field.
Based on the project submitted and scrutiny of application forms, short-listed candidates are called for
an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA 2009 KVPY 2010
Stream SA: Students Joining in XI Std. (Science subjects) during the academic year 2008-2009
and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and
Science subjects in the X-Standard Board Examination.
Stream SB: Students enrolled in the Ist Year Science under-graduate programme (B.Sc./integrated M.Sc.)
during the academic year 2008-2009 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in
aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.
Stream SB+2 : “Students of Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2008 - 2009 who are aspiring to join
ISSER for Integrated M. S programme for the session August 2009 may also take the KVPY Aptitude
Test for the SB Stream provided they secure a minimum of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) aggregate in
Mathematics and Science subjects in X Standard Board Examination

Eligibility for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship 2009 KVPY for UG Science PG Science Stduents in India
Basic Sciences
Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2009-2010 and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.
Stream SB+2: Students enrolled in Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2009 - 2010 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc / Int. M.Sc) for the session 2010 - 2011 provided they secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.
Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc / Int. M.Sc. during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.
Stream SP (Basic Sciences): Students enrolled in XI/XII standard, I/II year (B.Sc./Int. M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences during the academic year 2009 – 2010 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X , XII Standard Board Examinations. A hard copy of an original and creative science based research project is required along with the application.
Note for Students applying for Science Stream SP (Basic Sciences)
This has been started in order to program to recognize and encourage creative and innovative talent of youngsters pursuing Science. The project carried out as part of this application should be based on novel and innovative ideas. The project can be experimental or theoretical in nature. However, the project must show that the applicant is creative and adventurous, and ready to explore. The project should not merely reflect use of certain techniques or reporting of routine experimentation improvement of an existing product or a technique may be accepted provided such improvement involves original ideas and creativity. One may try to incorporate some addition to the design or practical implementation that improves an existing technique. The main criteria that would be followed for selection for the interview would be originality and innovation. Only after these criteria are met, the level of sophistication and the nature of the project would be taken into consideration.
